Our Humble Beginnings
Founded in 1955 by none other than Raymond “Buck” Danyow and his charming wife, Lucy, Champlain Construction kicked off in their very own garage right at Birchard Park. It didn’t take long for them to realize that their passion for construction could build something spectacular. By 1963, they moved to Route 7 South in Middlebury, and in 1975, with the addition of their three sons — Larry, John, and Jim — they proudly became Champlain Construction Company, Inc.
What We Do
Now you might be asking yourself, what makes us tick? Well, whether you need septic tank installation or top-notch sand and gravel for your latest project, we’ve got it all. Our services include:
- Complete site preparation from start to finish
- Turf restoration (because we care about that green space!)
- Commercial water lines installation
- Sewer and storm systems (let’s keep it flowing smoothly!)
- Residential water systems – putting a little splash in your step!
And guess what? We’re not just building; we’re also producing! We operate our own gravel pit on Route 116 in East Middlebury, making sure you get the best materials available for your projects. Whether it’s for retail, municipalities, or our wonderful clientele, we’re always ready to roll!
Our Family Tradition Continues
The Danyow legacy lives on as we proudly carry out the vision Buck and Lucy had all those years ago. Still family-owned and operated, our dedicated team of twenty to thirty experienced workers is the heart and soul of Champlain Construction. We believe in building tight relationships — both with our customers and our Connecticut—err, I mean Vermont—community!
